She was daughter of the former dictator Park Chung-hee (1961-79). He was assassinated
like her mother 5 years earlier. Apparently she had been a party
candidate for the post of Presidential candidate, but has founded her own party
and was expected to stand for President in 2003, but did not do so.
In 2004 she became leader of GNP which is the largest party in the parliament
but in opposition to the President, she resigned from this post to take part in
the party primaries for the position of the party's presidential candidate in
2007, but lost by a narrow margin to a male candidate who won the presidential
elections, who during the election campaign promised to appoint her Prime
Minister, something she refused. Presidential Candidate in 2012. (b. 1952-).
